Production Websites

ColbertRadio.com

ColbertRadio.com

In 2009 I was contacted about building a website for a friend of a friend. I soon found out that the friend was non-other than Stephen Colbert’s older brother Jay Colbert. They wanted to setup a funny political radio station via a website and needed some technical help. Not only did I build them a website, but I moved the show onto ustream.tv, taught the crew how to use it, rewired their control board, and showed them how to run an online radio station with one computer (not the four computers they previously thought necessary). Now they have a lot more fun drinking beers while doing their show, rather then trying to figure out all of the show’s technical aspects.

Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant

Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant

This website was created for Jaime Fuerte, co-owner of his family’s Mexican Restaurant chain in Charleston, SC. They currently operate two restaurants and were in need of a website on which they could easily update drink and entrée specials. The website contains a menu, news (for specials), maps, and information about their restaurant. It is always nice to sit down with the Fuerte family and have a nice big glass of Dos XX.

Save Susan- The Anti-Cancer Website

SaveSusan.com

SaveSusan.com Anti-Cancer Website

In 2006 my mother Susan Eleanor Cavanaugh died of a brain tumor (cancer). Not knowing what to do, and really being a big nerd, I created a website (at the time very basic compared to what I have now) to help raise funds for Relay for Life. I became the #1 single fundraiser in the South East, bringing in about $10,000 dollars before the Relay for Life program ended for that season (people have continued to donate since the conclusion of that fundraising season). In the future I would like to utilize this website as a hub to assist fundraising teams in stopping cancer. In addition, this site will continue to serve as a place for friends and family to remember my mother by sharing letters, memories, and photographs.

Navy IPv6 Project Team Demo Website

The Navy’s IPv6 project team was contracting out a website that was being built in .NET and I made them aware of how easy it is to use a free CMS (content management system) like WordPress or Joomla to save them 90% of the work. They seemed skeptical so I went home, installed another instance of WordPress, modified the pre-built theme mystique, added personalized photoshop images, and utilized some pre-built plugins. Overnight I was able to create a site that met our projects needs and will hopefully change the way the Navy creates websites.  This is a non-live demo only used to introduce my team to this concept.
